REGISTRATION

The registration for the training school is open and FREE OF CHARGE. In order to attend the event, please complete the online registration form and submit it before January 15, 2017. The number of participants is limited to 20 attendees. Priority will be given to WG1 -WG4 members who are active researcher in the field of de-identification. For further information, feel free to contact Prof. Marcos Faundez at faundez@tecnocampus.cat.

COST Trainee grant for students

For a limited number of participants a COST Trainee grant will be provided. You can find the details in the COST Vademecum  (Chapter 5). The relevant information is: 

Trainee Grants do not necessarily cover all expenses related to attending the Training School. The Trainee Grant is a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the Grantee. Different Grants amount can be attributed to each trainee. The amount afforded to each eligible Trainee must respect the following considerations:

  • All attendees at approved Training Schools must sign the meeting attendance list on each day that they attend the event. All attendees must also register for an e-COST profile at https://e-services.cost.eu - each participant must add their bank details to their e-COST profile prior to receiving their e-COST invitation. 
  • Those Trainees who get a grant, must register for an e-COST profile at https://e-services.cost.eu - each Trainee must add their bank details to their e-COST profile.
  • The maximum Grant awarded to each eligible Trainee will be EUR 1000.
  • Trainees eligible to be reimbursed are:
  1. Trainees from all COST Countries
  2. Trainees from approved NNC institutions
  3. Trainees from approved European RTD Organisations

One of the most comfortable means of transport to travel to and from the airport of Gran Canaria, the taxis, they are located in different areas of the airport terminals.

HOW TO GET TO VENUE

The venue is located in Campus de Tafira of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University which is 10 Km away from the city, toward the center of the island.

There are regular busses connecting the city with the campus leaving from “Santa Catalina Parque” and “Plaza San Telmo”.

The bus numbers are the next:

Yellow buses (Guaguas Municipales): 7, 25, 26 y 48

Blue buses (Global): 026, 301, 302, 303, 311, 313, 323, 324, 325, 327 y 328

One way ticket cost around: 1,45€

The ride is 20 minutes long

TOUR TO THE OLD TOWN VEGUETA & CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS

On Tuesday, February the 14th  2017, a guided touristic visit will be offered for training school attendants. The bus will pick up the delegates at 16:30h in the venue and will drop them off at 18:30h in the downtown.

The visit is aimed to the old town and Christopher Columbus houses.  The Vegueta of Santa Ana, was declared national artistic historic April 5, 1973. Real of 3 Palms was founded in 1478 by Juan Rejon Captain of Castille, so the city belongs to the Gothic Quarter.

We will visit the place where exactly just began the conquest of the Canary Islands, in the Plaza of San Antonio Abad and old Portuguese street.

We will also visit, famous Balconies street, where can be admired the first noble houses after the conquest of the island. There also is placed the Plaza of the new Pillar with its fountain dated XVIII just in the rear of the Cathedral. Just turning to the right we will get into the Sacred Art (Religious) Museum as well as the Cathedral of Santa Ana, (optional) with its Gothic interior and its historical contribution.

We will continue down the plaza de Santa Ana, with its monumental buildings emblematic and representative of the society. We conclude in the House of the Governor or Columbus Museum, (entry optional) where we will be ending this historical tour. Christopher Columbus used this island of Gran Canaria in three occasions, 1492 (discovery) 1493 (colonization of America) 1502 (last tour).

SOCIAL DINNER

Following the touristic visit, all of those that are eager to, will join to have a nice dinner in the downtown. Further details will be provided in the registration desk.

 Please, note that the diner is at your own expenses. The payment should be done at the restaurant preferably by cash.

 

THE WEATHER

February is one of the best times of the year to visit Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. During this month, the average temperature for the island is 18°C, created by average highs of 21°C during the hottest part of the day and average lows of 15°C during the coolest. In the venue could be 2 or 3 degree less.
